Timber windows in Egremont
Tilt and Turn Windows in Egremont rewards patience at the setting-out stage. Given the Lakeland slate cottages, Georgian Carlisle stock and coastal industrial terraces that dominates locally, standard sizes are the exception not the rule. Locally you are contending with the highest rainfall in England with severe upland exposure, so sustained saturation decay and finish failure within short recoating cycles is the fault we are called out to. Our focus on this is dual-action hardware that stays reliable through thousands of cycles.
A surveyor visits first and records the real dimensions, at several points on each opening. Give us the basics and you will have a written figure, not a range that moves later.
One thing that catches people out here: Lake District National Park controls window style closely across the central valleys.

How long does a typical order take?
Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
