Timber windows in Felling
Flush Casement Windows in Felling rewards patience at the setting-out stage. Local property is overwhelmingly Tyneside flats, Georgian Grainger Town frontages and coastal terraces, which is why we never quote from a catalogue. The exposure here is cold North Sea exposure with high sustained wind, which is exactly the condition that causes wind-driven rain penetration and rapid coating loss on seaward elevations. Where we put the effort is the flush face period properties need and stormproof units cannot give.
The site visit comes first, because assumptions made in an office get paid for on site. We will price it properly in writing, and we will tell you if it is not worth doing.
Something particular to this area: Tyneside flat stock has a distinctive paired-door detail worth replicating exactly.

Verified client, Tyne and WearFelling questions
Is the timber certified?
All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
