Cottage Windows across Wiltshire

The Cottage Windows we make for Wiltshire is set out from a survey, not a size chart. Property here runs to chalk-downland cob and thatch, Bath stone terraces and garrison housing, and each of those brings its own set of dimensions. The weather does the rest: exposed downland wind with driving rain here, and wind-driven water forced past worn weatherseals as the predictable result. The detail we will not compromise on is small-pane work where the glazing bar width decides whether it looks right.

The survey happens before manufacture, which is why our units fit without packing or trimming. Ask us for a figure and you will get one, with the lead time stated alongside it.

Bear in mind for this area: cob and thatch properties need breathable finishes rather than film-forming coatings.

Every unit made to size

Nothing is cut down from stock. Each window is manufactured to your survey dimensions.

Engineered hardwood core

Laminated sections resist the movement that makes single-piece timber twist and stick.

10-year guarantee

Covering manufacture, the factory finish and our own installation work.

Survey before manufacture

We measure the opening as built, so what arrives fits without packing.

Frequently asked questions

Do you cover Wiltshire?

Yes. We cover the whole of Wiltshire including Swindon, Salisbury, Chippenham, Trowbridge and the surrounding villages. Cob and thatch properties need breathable finishes rather than film-forming coatings. Because exposed downland wind with driving rain, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.

What guarantee do you provide?

Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.

Do you fit, or supply only?

Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.

Is the timber certified?

All our stock is FSC certified and chain-of-custody documentation is supplied with the order, which most main contractors and specifiers now require for their records.

Can you match an existing profile?

Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
