Fixed Light Windows across Berkshire
People come to us about Fixed Light Windows in Berkshire once the cheap option has already failed. Local stock is dominated by Thames-side villas, Victorian terraces and dense 1980s commercial fit-out stock, which sets the sizes and profiles we work to. With river humidity and localised flood exposure in the mix, swelling and binding on ground-floor doors after flood or high water table events is a question of when rather than whether. Where we put the effort is large fixed lights where glass weight drives the section size.
Every job is measured on site first, because drawn sizes and built sizes are seldom the same. Tell us what you are working with and we will put a fixed figure in writing.
Something particular to this area: flood-zone properties benefit from raised thresholds and marine-grade fixings.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Berkshire?
Yes. We cover the whole of Berkshire including Reading, Slough, Bracknell, Maidenhead and the surrounding villages. Flood-zone properties benefit from raised thresholds and marine-grade fixings. Because river humidity and localised flood exposure, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
How long does a typical order take?
Most made-to-size orders run six to ten weeks from survey to delivery. Conservation and heavily detailed work can take longer, and we confirm the lead time in writing at quotation rather than leaving it open.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
