Sash Windows across Derbyshire
Nothing about Sash Windows in Derbyshire is settled until someone has been on site. Around here it is Peak District gritstone cottages, mill housing and Georgian spa stock, and that alone rules out anything bought by the pallet. With upland cold with heavy snow loading and hard frost in the mix, frost heave damage and swelling on unbalanced-finish joinery is a question of when rather than whether. What you are paying for is sliding sashes that run smoothly and hold position without slamming.
Each opening is recorded individually, since a terrace of identical houses rarely is. Send what you have, even if it is only a phone photo, and we will take it from there.
One thing that catches people out here: Peak Park properties face some of the tightest external alteration controls in England.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Derbyshire?
Yes. We cover the whole of Derbyshire including Derby, Chesterfield, Ilkeston, Swadlincote and the surrounding villages. Peak Park properties face some of the tightest external alteration controls in England. Because upland cold with heavy snow loading and hard frost, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
